=========================================
With her author husband David Rankine, she co-authored books such as The Guises of the Morrigan; Circle of Fire; Practical Elemental Magick; Practical Planetary Magick and Wicca Magickal Beginnings. She is the editor of several anthologies, including Hekate Keys to the Crossroads; Horns of Power and Priestesses Pythonesses & Sybils; and the author of Artemis, Virgin Goddess of the Sun & Moon. Sorita has lectured extensively on subjects related to those she has written on over the years, given lectures at local, national and international events. Additionally, in her role as Priestess she has lead many dozens of public ceremonies and practical workshops for those interested in learning through experience. Examples of these include ceremonies for events such as the “Witchfest” events which were organised by the Children of Artemis, regional conference for the Pagan Federation, Fellowship of Isis and many seasonal celebrations for these and kindred organisations. Together with David, she facilitated the open learning circle “Lapis Companions” in London for several years, prior to leaving London to move to Wales). In 1997 she created “Avalonia” - the original website at www.avalonia.co.uk is currently an archive of articles, but over the years it was for long the focus of a variety of online communities facilitated (or co-facilitated) by Sorita between 1999 and 2008. For examples of some of the lectures and workshops she has facilitated click here.
Since ever she can remember Sorita wanted to be a writer. In kindergarten she wrote a poem about gnomes, which she is still proud of today. Her early years were spent in Cape Town (South Africa) where she grew up being influenced a great deal by her Nonna (Italian for “grandmother”) who encouraged her to read the Romantic poets, books like Dante’s “Inferno” and Shakespeare as soon as she was old enough; her love of nature was encouraged by her Grandfather who was an avid gardner and grew all kinds of things from flowers to onions, figs to tomatoes and any number of culinary herbs. Likewise her own parents’ love of animals meant that she grew up with a menagerie of animals, especially dogs and birds (mostly pigeons!) and had a great deal of freedom to express herself.
Before settling on a career as an author and publisher, Sorita had earned a living from things as diverse as working for a milling company to modeling; working in a theatre to managing an alternative health centre; eCommerce to the Music industry and finally did a few years in the competitive and creative world of Advertising. She has a love of languages, but hastens to add that she isn’t that good at any of them, but at least she can say hello and goodbye in everything from Afrikaans, Dutch, German, Italian, Spanish, Xhosa and of course English! Her excuse for being interested in everything, seemingly all at the same time, is that she is a double Sagittarius and that as such it should be allowed!
Having spent many years in London (England, UK) she now lives in Powys, on the edge of the beautiful Brecon Beacons in Wales (UK) with occult author husband David Rankine and their beautiful baby boy. She remains actively involved in the Western Esoteric Tradition, with a focus on the mysteries of Ancient Egypt and that presented in grimoires such as the Key of Solomon.
